Colton, San Bernardino County
Virgil Earp, brother of Wyatt, was elected the first marshal of Colton in 1887, and several members of the Earp family lived in town. For more than a century cement was quarried from Slover Mountain on the south side, a marble hill that the digging steadily lowered. Interstate 10 and Interstate 215 cross at Colton, near the center of the Inland Empire.
